Three full sightseeing days let you give Da Nang, Ba Na Hills and Hoi An separate places in the trip. For 3 days in Da Nang, I would spend the first day around the city and beach, the second at Ba Na Hills and the third in Hoi An through the evening. The order needs to change if the third day ends with a flight. In a three-day, two-night stay, arrival and departure often take away some of that time, so I would check the usable hours before committing to both outings outside the city.

What fits into three days in Da Nang?

I would use three full days in Da Nang for a city introduction, one mountain-resort day and one Hoi An outing. That covers different experiences while keeping the longest transfers on separate days.

The city day includes the Marble Mountains, a beach break and an evening along the Han River. Ba Na Hills has its own day because the cable cars, walking and return transport take time. Hoi An gets an afternoon and evening, leaving the morning available for a slower start or a short local stop.

This plan assumes you can stay out on the final evening. If you fly home on the third afternoon, put Hoi An earlier in the stay and keep the departure day local. If you arrive late as well, one of the two longer outings will probably need to go. I would choose the experience you most want before filling the remaining hours.

A single Da Nang base keeps the logistics simple. You can return to the same room, leave bags behind and avoid moving hotels between sightseeing days. Staying overnight in Hoi An is another option if you want a later evening there, but it changes the luggage and departure arrangements.

For the wider decision about adding days, how long to stay in Da Nang compares this length with shorter visits and longer regional trips.

Day 1: Marble Mountains, beach time and the river

I would make the first full day a city day, starting at the Marble Mountains and leaving the afternoon for My Khe. It gives you an active morning followed by a block that can slow down when you need a break.

At the mountains, work out how much climbing suits your group. The Thuy Son elevator covers part of the ascent, but the cave and pagoda paths still involve stone steps. Wear shoes with grip and carry water. Someone who struggles with stairs may prefer a shorter visit rather than follow every viewpoint route.

According to Danang Fantasticity, checked in October 2026, adult Thuy Son entry is 40,000 VND; the separate lift ticket is 15,000 VND one way or 30,000 VND return, and Am Phu Cave costs 20,000 VND for an adult. Check the components at the ticket point so that the visit you choose matches the ticket you buy.

Rest over lunch before going to the beach. My preference is to give My Khe time for swimming and Son Tra time for the view. I would save the peninsula for a different block or use it instead of the beach, particularly when the sea is unsuitable.

For swimming, follow the local notices and lifeguards. Use the buoyed, supervised areas and stop when duty ends. The beach can be pleasant for a walk even when swimming is prohibited; a clear sky does not cancel a warning at the water.

Finish near the Han River in Da Nang. According to Danang Fantasticity’s June 2026 notice, the Dragon Bridge fire-and-water show starts around 9:00 PM on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Move this evening to a matching date if one falls within your stay. The river walk and dinner work on a weekday too. An optional way to see the river is to compare Han River evening cruises; check the pier and departure time, and do not assume a Dragon Bridge performance is included. My one-day city itinerary has the detail if you want to adjust this block independently.

Day 2: Give Ba Na Hills its own day

I would reserve the second full day for Ba Na Hills and keep the evening after it easy. That leaves enough space for the cable-car journey and the areas you actually want to visit, without an onward deadline in Hoi An.

Before paying, decide what you want from the outing. The Golden Bridge and mountain views may be the main draw; another group may be more interested in the resort’s gardens or attractions. Those preferences affect how long you want to stay and which ticket or package fits.

Compare current operator information with the booking listing. Check the travel date, admission conditions, meal inclusions and collection point. With a tour, ask how much time the group spends at each stop and when it leaves the mountain. With a private car, confirm the return meeting point and waiting arrangements. A low headline price can leave transport or a meal outside the package. Compare Ba Na Hills admission options for the visit date, keeping transport and meals separate unless the selected package explicitly includes them.

Weather at the mountain can differ from the coast. Bring a layer and check visibility as well as rain. Fog can limit the view even when the attraction is open. Strong wind, thunderstorms or operating restrictions require a different decision: follow the operator’s notices and contact your booking provider about the options available.

I would carry only what is useful for the day and keep your hotel luggage behind. Walking shoes, water and a light layer are more practical than a bag packed for the beach. Agree on a meeting point if your group splits up inside the resort.

On the way back to Da Nang, allow the outing to end. Choose dinner near the hotel or the river if everyone still has energy. Hoi An is already assigned another day, so there is no need to add its evening to this one. If Ba Na Hills does not interest you, replace it with Son Tra and a longer beach or museum block rather than buy a ticket simply to complete the route.

Day 3: Keep Hoi An’s afternoon and evening

I would give Hoi An the afternoon and evening of a day that does not end with a tight airport deadline. The town in daylight and the lantern-lit streets after dark are different parts of the visit, and this plan leaves room for both.

Begin with breakfast and a quiet morning in Da Nang. You could take a short beach walk or rest at your accommodation. I would only add a morning attraction if it leaves enough time to eat and reach Hoi An without rushing.

Choose between focusing on the old town and including an activity outside it. A countryside visit takes time away from the historic streets. On this trip, I would keep the town as the main outing unless a particular class or activity is the reason you are going.

Ask at an official ticket point about the current heritage-site options and opening conditions. Choose the interiors that appeal to you, then leave room to walk between them. A stop for coffee or lunch is useful when someone needs to sit down; there is no advantage in collecting every possible entrance. If booking ahead, compare Hoi An Ancient Town heritage tickets and check the covered sites and redemption process before planning the walking route.

I would keep Hoi An on an evening without a flight deadline, then arrange the return to Da Nang in advance.

Arrange the return before you settle into dinner. Confirm the collection point, contact method and any waiting charges. A tour with an early return may suit a daytime visit but miss the evening you wanted. An independent outing gives more control over when you leave, provided you have a dependable way back.

If your flight is on the third day, move this block to the first or second suitable afternoon. Keep the final day near Da Nang instead. I would not recommend an automatic departure time from Hoi An without your flight details, baggage arrangements and the airline’s check-in deadline.

Check weather and local access notices before leaving. Flood warnings call for postponing the outing, not simply packing an umbrella. Keep a city alternative available rather than depend on every outdoor part of the plan remaining open.

How would I adapt this for three days and two nights?

A three-day, two-night Da Nang trip needs to be built around the actual flight hours. If arrival and departure occupy much of their dates, I would keep one complete outing outside the city and use the remaining time locally.

Three days, two nights diagram contrasting full sightseeing days with flight days.
Planning illustration: count the sightseeing time available after arrival and before departure.

For an early first-day arrival and late third-day departure, you may have enough usable time for both Ba Na Hills and Hoi An. Put the flight information into the plan first, then protect the airport margin. Hoi An should move away from the final evening if it conflicts with departure.

With a late arrival, use that evening for check-in and dinner. Choose between Ba Na Hills and Hoi An for the complete middle day. The departure morning can hold a beach walk or a short central stop; it is a poor place for an outing whose return you cannot easily shorten.

Families with young children may prefer to skip Ba Na Hills and keep the second day for Son Tra, a pool break or indoor sightseeing. Older visitors or anyone uncomfortable with stairs can shorten the Marble Mountains block. Keep the Hoi An afternoon adjustable too, with somewhere to rest before the evening.

For a group that wants the Golden Bridge but has already seen Hoi An, drop Hoi An rather than replace it with another full day trip. That creates time for the beach, a museum or a meal without reservations governing the whole day.

If only two full days remain after flights, use the two-day itinerary as the simpler route. Its one-outing choice is easier to manage than compressing all three sightseeing days.

How would I book and rearrange the three days?

I would book the mountain and Hoi An transport around the usable days, then keep short city rides flexible. This Da Nang itinerary works without renting a motorbike: Grab or reputable taxis cover local movement, with a confirmed return arrangement for the longer outings. Compare private transfers from Da Nang for the chosen destination and confirm the return, waiting time and hotel coverage in the selected option.

Put the cable-car visit on a day when you have no onward flight to catch. Check the provider’s cancellation and change terms before relying on a weather swap. If moving the booking is not allowed, decide whether that risk fits what you want from the visit.

Move the river evening onto Friday, Saturday or Sunday when the dates allow it. That adjustment does not require a different city route. If the stay falls entirely on other days, plan dinner and a river walk without the show.

In ordinary rain, I would replace a beach block with a museum or a longer meal. With heavy rain, flooding or an operating closure, follow the local advice and remove the affected trip. Replacing one outdoor outing with another does not necessarily avoid the same weather problem.

Before confirming bookings, place your flight times beside the Ba Na Hills and Hoi An days. Choose which outing you would drop if arrival runs late or the weather changes. Then confirm the return rides, keep your departure day flexible and leave the small city stops unreserved where possible. That lets you spend the available time at the places you chose without trying to recover every item when the schedule shifts.

Frequently asked questions

Is three days enough for Da Nang and Hoi An?

Three full days can accommodate the city, Ba Na Hills and an afternoon-to-evening Hoi An outing on separate days. A trip with three dates and two nights needs cuts when flights take away usable time.

Can I skip Ba Na Hills?

Yes. Keep the city and Hoi An, then use the spare day for beach time or a slower pace. Choose the outing for your interests, rather than treating it as compulsory.
